Tour of the Ultimo Valley

On two wheels from the Zoggler lake to Santa Geltrude
The Ultimo Valley is one of the most typical valleys of South Tyrol and has preserved its rural character until today. It is famous for its ancient, petrified larch trees which are amongst the oldest and most imposing in Europe, the enchanting Pilshöfe farmsteads and shingle roofed houses and is a great place for culture -conscious mountain bikers.

From Santa Valpurga to the Zoggler lake. Turn left and cross the dam to the other side of the lake then bear right along the Seeweg path which follows the lake shore and reaches the Höfeweg farmers’ road. Ride on to the village of San Nicolò. Then turn back onto the main road and ride on to the Mühlau farm bus stop. Turn left and climb up to the Falschauerhof guesthouse. Follow the road, then turn right and continue along the forestry road which leads on to the Höfeweg. Ride on past the Petrified Larch Trees, then downwards to the Innerlahner and turn left up to the beautifully located little church of Santa Geltrude.

Go back along the main road to San Nicolò and turn left up into the little village itself where the Valley Museum is well-worth a visit. After that, turn right along the Ultner Höfeweg to Kuppelwies then take the main road back to Santa Valburga where you started from.
